Bitcoin mining is analogous to the mining of gold, but its digital form. The process involves specialized computers solving algorithmic equations or hash functions. These problems help miners to confirm blocks of transactions held within the network. Bitcoin mining provides a reward for miners by paying out in Bitcoin in turn the miners confirm transactions on the blockchain. Miners introduce new Bitcoin into the network and also secure the system with transaction confirmation.
Segregated signatures signing a contract to open a 2-way peg to create a channel to bypass proof of work, allowing transactions to occur without individual hashes of chain tips which create new UTXOs ARE NOT BITCOIN.
Larry Cermak: "[...] the outlook is bleak. The [bitcoin core] halving is in less than 2 months, which will cause a lot of miners to go out of business. The difficulty will adjust and everything will be fine but hash rate will likely drop significantly."

Bitmain Unveils 2 Bitcoin Miners With Max Speeds Up to 110TH/s Per Unit. The Antminer S19 Pro model with 110TH/s and 29 joules per terahash (J/TH) is 24 trillion hashes per second faster than Microbt’s latest Whatsminer M30S model (86TH/s).
Highest in 2 Years: 65% of Bitcoin Hash Power Is in China, Report Finds
For all of bitcoin’s promise of being the world’s first decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, 65 percent of the total hash power resides in China. That's the highest in at least two years according to a recent report by CoinShares Research. Skeptics like economist Nouriel Roubin often claim there is a massive centralization of power among miners and the blockchain is not even close to decentralization and democracy. That the majority of bitcoin’s hashrate is being supplied by China adds weight to their charges. The hashrate refers to the computing power dedicated to mine blocks and secure the network. At press time, bitcoin’s hashrate stands at 91.34 exa hashes per second (EH/s), according to bitfinfocharts.com. It is likely the world’s second-largest economy has the biggest influence on the top cryptocurrency. If a couple of big Chinese miners were to switch off, the hashrate will likely drop sharply, making the network less secure. The majority of bitcoin mining power resides in China mainly due to natural factors. A mining market analyst at bitcoin asset manager and trading platform RRMine, who asked not to be named, told CoinDesk: “China is a large country and there are many poorly developed areas with low-price, abundant electricity, such as Xinjiang, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia and Sichuan. As we all know, electricity costs and mining machines are two important factors for mining costs, so mining companies and individual miners prefer setting up mines in China.” https://www.coindesk.com/highest-in-2-years-65-of-bitcoin-hash-power-is-in-china-report-finds
Unfortunately, there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website. We are currently investigating the nature of the incident and, as a result, we are stopping all operations for the next 24 hours. Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken. Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency. We are fully committed to restoring the NiceHash service with the highest security measures at the earliest opportunity. We would not exist without our devoted buyers and miners all around the globe. We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service. We will endeavour to update you at regular intervals. While the full scope of what happened is not yet known, we recommend, as a precaution, that you change your online passwords. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are committing every resource towards solving this issue as soon as possible.

[Redraw #32] will take place this Thursday, July 26, at 16:00 UTC. Of course, there’ll be a post earlier in the day to signify it, so be prepared to crown a new winner (one who hopefully follows the rules)!
The rules have been updated to reflect the prerequisites illustrated in the FAQs. Rule III now say, “Accounts must be 1 week old to post, and 30 days old to participate in drawings, with minimal account activity.”
The votes are in! Results have been edited in the Status here, but I will repeat them once again:
Future winners who are shown to violate the rules will be withdrawn as soon as possible, and the fifth block following it will be used to determine the next winner. The same index will be used. This came to be thanks to a demand of 487 votes, dominating 56.3% of the poll.
Drawings will continue to be monthly, thanks to 494 votes, dominating 78.54% of the poll.
Blocks will be associated with a date and time when selecting a drawer, as voted by 151 people, with 60.4% dominance. This’ll be performed in [Redraw #32], and will continue starting in [Drawing Thread #33] this August.
Finally, future drawings will now use the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain. This came in by a whopping 1,737 votes, dominating 52.07% of the poll out of a total 3,336 participants, more than the other four polls combined! The amount of participants is the equivalent of 3% of the entire subreddit!
(Programming experience may be necessary to properly see the results; this is for validation purposes only.)
Let me remind everyone that these results are only to dictate protocols of this subreddit, and are subject to change, given if there is a need to change them by the mod team or if public demand warrants it.
These announcements are to inform everyone of what’s going on at /MillionaireMakers. These announcements are made for the purpose of making the selection process much smoother, and to show as much transparency as possible. The subreddit will continue its best efforts to spread generosity, and perhaps one day, make someone a millionaire. In addition, I’d like to personally make one major announcement. This partnership will help /MillionaireMakers prosper, so without further ado, let me be the one to introduce you to...
In exchange for spreading awareness of Bitcoin Cash by adding information on the sidebar and featuring it as a prominent cryptocurrency alongside Bitcoin and Litecoin, the BCF will help advertise subsequent drawings, offer programming work to make running this subreddit a lot smoother, and provide future winners with additional Bitcoin Cash.
How are you benefitting from this partnership?
The partnership allows this subreddit to be capable of doing things that I can’t do alone, including promoting this subreddit beyond its 100,000 subscribers. Also, I can work with other much more informed and talented individuals more closely on enforcing rules and making processes much more automated, thanks to programmers offering their time to make running /MillionaireMakers smoother. I am not being funded for promoting the Bitcoin Cash Fund, be it directly nor indirectly. This collaboration is directly for the benefit of the winners, this subreddit and to spread awareness of Bitcoin Cash.
What does this mean for the winners?
The BCF vows to donate $200 to the winner, and encourages the low fees incentivized by Bitcoin Cash. In addition, their marketing will bring in more people, which correlates to more donors for the winner.
Wait, does this mean that Bitcoin Cash will now replace Bitcoin in choosing a winning hash?
Bitcoin will continue to be the providing blockchain used for selecting the winning hash, and the address will continue to be listed as another method of sending donations to the winner. However, more information will be provided on Bitcoin Cash, including its tipping bots (tippr, chaintip, and BCHTips). As always, the type of donations sent are all determined by the donors. Of course, people are welcome to use tipping bots listed and any others that I have not been made aware of, but other cryptocurrency addresses for donors will continue to be present (at the choice of the winner), such as Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Litecoin, among more. Additionally, cash transfers will continue to be in use, including Google Wallet, PayPal, and now, Square Cash. The winner is welcome to exclude certain forms of payment themselves in what they accept, should they be chosen. Hopefully, this partnership will please people on both sides of the Bitcoin community, and is met with content from the subscribers of /MillionaireMakers. This collaboration will help make this subreddit bigger than what it already is thanks to the efforts of many people. The Bitcoin Cash Fund have made a respective post on yours.org detailing what this partnership signifies and their goals. The link is provided below, so check it out. Bitcoin has faced a strong correction over the past few weeks as legacy markets have collapsed from local highs. The leading cryptocurrency currently trades at $10,250, over $2,000 below the year-to-date high at $12,500. Bitcoin’s on-chain trends remain bullish despite the strong correction. Along with a persistent high count of transactions, it was recently reported […] Highest in 2 Years: 65% of Bitcoin Hash Power Is in China, Report Finds For all of bitcoin’s promise of being the world’s first decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, 65 percent of the ... Hashrate (Hash per second, h/s) is an SI-derived unit representing the number of double SHA-256 computations performed in one second in the bitcoin network for cryptocurrency mining. Hashrate is also called as hashing power. It is usually symbolized as h/s (with an appropriate SI prefix). A hash algorithm takes data of any arbitrary size (numbers, alphabets, media files) and transforms it into a fixed alphanumeric string. The fixed bit size can vary (like 64-bit or 128-bit or 256-bit) depending on what hash function is being used.. And this fixed size output is what is called a hash.In other words, a hash is the cryptographic byproduct of a hash algorithm.
